The app

Ottoman collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking. Your button map, settings, trial dates and license key stay on your Mac. The trial dates and key are kept in your keychain. The one exception: when you enter a license key, the app sends that key, and nothing else, to our server at ottoman.catchable.ca to confirm it was paid for, and asks again about once a day. No account, no device id, no usage data.

The one thing the app does online is ask this site for a small file called version.json to see if a newer version exists. It does this about once a week. We see that request the way any website sees a request, including your IP address. That request also carries the app version and your macOS version, in the standard User-Agent header every request has. You can turn it off with Check for updates automatically in the menu bar menu.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and loads nothing from other companies. Our host, Cloudflare, serves the pages and sees the usual details of each request, such as your IP address.

Payment

Stripe handles your payment. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. Stripe shares the details a seller needs, such as your name, email address and billing country, so we can send a receipt and help you if you write to us.

Email

If you email [email protected], a person reads it. We use what you send only to help you and keep it only as long as needed for that.
