Use a PS5 controller as a mouse on your Mac
Your Mac already sees a PS5 DualSense as a game controller. It does not let that controller move the pointer. Ottoman does, and the DualSense is the pad we build and test around.
Pair it over Bluetooth
Hold PS and Create together until the light bar flashes.
On the Mac, open System Settings > Bluetooth and click the controller.
Open Ottoman and allow Accessibility when macOS asks. That switch is what lets it move the pointer and press keys.
No Bluetooth? A USB cable works with no pairing. A DualShock 4 pairs the same way, holding PS and Share.
What each button does by default
- Left stick moves the pointer. Hold R2 to slow it down.
- Right stick scrolls.
- Cross clicks, and holding it drags.
- Circle is Backspace. Square is Return.
- Triangle is push-to-talk for a dictation app.
- L1 and R1 go to the previous and next tab.
- The D-pad sends arrow keys. R3 opens Spotlight.
- Create is Escape. Options shows a cheat sheet.
- PS pauses the controller, and the light bar turns red while it is paused.
The touchpad becomes a trackpad
Slide one finger to move the pointer and two fingers to scroll. Press the pad to right-click. This works on PlayStation controllers only, and there is a touchpad speed slider in the mapper. Every button can be changed there, with a picture of your pad.
Change anything you like
The defaults are a starting point. Open the mapper, click a button on the picture of your controller and choose a different action. Presets cover couch browsing and media control, and your map can be exported to a file. Mouse speed, scroll speed and deadzone each have a slider.
Try it on your own Mac
No terminal, no JSON, nothing to build. Download, press a button, done.

Questions
The controller is paired but nothing moves. What now?
Close Steam, because Steam Input can grab the pad. Then check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility, and make sure Ottoman is switched on.
The PS button opens Launchpad or Games. How do I stop that?
Turn that off in System Settings > Game Controllers.
Does it work with the PS4 DualShock 4?
Yes, over Bluetooth or USB, and its touchpad works as a trackpad too.
Will it get in the way of my Steam games?
No. When a Steam game or the Steam app is in front, it steps aside so the game gets the pad.
Known issue: Spotlight closes while I hold a button
On macOS 26, holding a controller button while Spotlight is open can close Spotlight. Use the keyboard there for now.
